Tech Stack

Modern omnichannel retail is not powered by one system.

It is a layered technology stack – ecommerce, EPOS, stock control, payments, hosting, email, CRM, customer service, advertising platforms, reporting tools and custom integrations all working together.

The challenge is not simply choosing software. It is making the right decisions about what to build, what to buy, what to integrate and what to leave alone.

At Angling Active, I have worked directly with the systems behind a growing retail and ecommerce operation, including Magento for ecommerce, Cybertill for EPOS, Klaviyo for email and CRM, Freshdesk for customer support, Sonassi and Linode for hosting, and Google, Meta and Microsoft shopping platforms for paid acquisition.

Alongside off-the-shelf platforms, we have also developed custom Laravel intranet tools and API adaptors to move data between systems, reduce manual work and give the team better visibility across the business.

This experience has taught me that technology decisions are rarely just technical decisions. They affect stock accuracy, customer experience, team workload, margin, reporting, marketing performance and the ability of a business to scale.

A good tech stack should make the business easier to run. A poor one creates hidden complexity, manual work, unreliable data and expensive lock-in dependencies.

My value is in helping business owners understand that balance — where systems are helping, where they are holding the business back and where practical changes can unlock better performance.
